NOTHING,  Spring 2005

Group presentation guidelines:

BRAINSTORMING DESCRIPTION:  DUE  4pm, Friday March 11

by email sent to larry@astro.umn.edu with cc to other group members,
containing:
    1) List of possible topics for inclusion (6-10)
    2) List of two or more possible references in each of the
following categories:  a. Books;  b. Magazine/journal articles; c. Web


DETAILED preliminary outline due 2 weeks before presentation,

- Handed in at class time (2 weeks prior)

- Initialed by all group members

- Detailed outline of presentation  (e.g., 5-6 topics with 2-3 subtopics each)

- Mode of presentation (powerpoint? whiteboard? what A/V needed?, handouts?)

- Short description of class participation (discussion questions? exercise? etc)

- References (at least two in each of categories above)

- Pre-class reading assignment (either clean printed copy with citation or
web reference).  


PRESENTATION

Length:  40 minutes including questions/discussion (groups of 3)
               30 minutes including questions/discussion (groups of 2)

Pre-reading:  1 short pre-reading (approx 1/2-3/4 hour) for the class
              must be submitted 2 weeks before the presentation (either
               web page or clean copy [with citation] given to Doc R.
               for reserve)

Presentation should include audio and visual materials (power point
  fine, etc.) as appropriate, and include both direct presentation and
  prepared/structured class discussion.

At least half the material presented should be from sources other than
the web - magazine/journal articles, books, etc.
